a promise — and, very often, plans to meet someone
1
Meaning & nuance
약속 means a promise: 약속할게 (I promise), 약속을 지키다 (keep a promise), 약속을 어기다 (break a promise).
In everyday talk it very often means plans to meet someone. 오늘 약속 있어요 is "I have plans today," and 약속 시간 is the time you agreed to meet. Its Chinese characters, 約束, are the same as Japanese yakusoku.
